Preserving the Folk History of The New Forest

Aims of The New Forest Folklore Society

Founded in 2025, The New Forest Folklore Society brings together researchers, historians, and enthusiasts of New Forest Folklore. It serves as a trusted hub for academic study while supporting museums, businesses, and organisations involved in folklore-related events and projects, to ensure the continuation and preservation of the unique and fragile identity of The New Forest.

STUDY

Promote the study, understanding, and appreciation of folklore with particular reference to the New Forest and in keeping with its unique cultural, historical, and environmental significance.

SAFEGUARD

Support the collection, preservation, and dissemination of folklore associated with the New Forest, supporting scholarly research, safeguarding heritage, and promoting public education.

Collaborate with businesses and organisations such as museums, archives and educational institutions for events and projects surrounding folklore, folk-history and associated topics.
